Health Insurance, Please
Health insurance, everyone needs it, hardly anyone can afford it. What can you do? Congress is making a mess of health insurance reform, if you can call this bloated monster reform. But no matter what the hill actually ends up with you STILL NEED HEALTH INSURANCE for you and your family.
What can you do, what are your options? Here is a brief summary of some ideas I have.
If you don’t qualify for insurance through an employer you have to obtain coverage via a private carrier. If your income level is below a certain range your children might be able to get coverage through state programs like CHIP. Contact the government agency that administers this in your state and find out! Do not wait till you have time, do it today.
You and your spouse will have to go to a private carrier to receive coverage. Find a health agent in your area and see if you can work with them. If not, find another, there are many available.
The cost is going to be high no matter what type of coverage you get but it is small potatoes compared to the cost of a major stay in the hospital. Current costs can run from $3000 to $10,000 a day depends on your specific condition. With that in mind the 2500 deductible major medical policy for $350 a month does not seem to bad. Some policies could be less and some more, depending on your age, health, and the company you choose to go with. Have the agent explain what is covered and what is not, that is their job! With the details of a policy in mind, you can tailor a coverage that will give you the coverages you need and the price you can afford. No one likes to pay this, but this is defiantly the best of all your options. Imagine what a month’s stay in the hospital would cost! This bill could wipe out your savings or force you into areas you don’t ever want to go.
